F30 Dual Color Diffuser Painting

Weekend DIY- Gloss black and EBII Diffuser

Step 1
1- Bought diffuser from EBay.
2- Dry fit to check the fitment, 95% fitment was ok

Step 2
Light sanding with 400 grit sand paper

Step 3
Clean with mineral spirits

Step 4
3 light coats of adhesion promoter(only center portion, masking tape required)
Next step within 10min

Step 5
3 coats of rustoleum automotive enamel- Gloss Black
Leave it for 6 hours, remove masking tape.

Step 6
3 light coats of adhesion promoter(only outer portion, masking tape required)
Next step within 10min

Step 7
4 coats of base coat, was able to cover completely with 4 coats
Leave it for 25min, remove masking tape

Step 8
3-4 coats of clear coat with 5min gap each coat

Step 9
Planning to buff with compound after 24-48 hours, then install.

Gorgeous! What material is the diffuser? Would you do the same process with a Carbon Fiber diffuser?

Virgin polypropylene, I believe process will be same. Carbon fiber diffuser will have clear coat, so might require aggressive sanding
