Help me pick interior trim!

I have on order a 230Xi Vert in Mineral White w/black sensatec w/THP. The interior trim I had selected was the Finewood trim, but I'm having second thoughts because I'm looking to add the M-Sport package to the car now. I originally wanted the finewood because I felt it was going to be the easiest to keep clean.

Last week, I ended up added the THP for the suspension, which comes with the blue M brakes. This started me thinking if I should change the trim, but I didn't like the base with the red and I had heard the brushed aluminum dented.. The hexagon trim was out because it was only available with the M Sport pack.

Now that I'm probably going to add the M-Sport pack, I'm thinking the Hex with the blue to match the brakes. But then I'm like.. will that look odd since you can't see the brakes when you're in the car, so maybe I should go with the Hex and black.. or just keep the finewood.

I'm at a loss... Assuming I add the M-Sport, should I just go with the Hex and blue, since blue is my 6yo son's favorite color, go with the hex black, since it's neutral, or keep the finewood for stain protection?

Let me know what you guys/gals think..

Thanks!

I have a black interior with the hex. I like how it brightens it up

Hex or brushed would be easiest to keep clean in my opinion. I have had the brushed and liked it a bit more than the hex. I eventually swapped it out for the dry carbon fiber though.

I have the brushed in my Estoril. Looks fine to me. I'm not that particular (matching the calipers?) thats what it came with.

Normally I would just go with the hex and black, but both my kids love blue and I was thinking why not... since it would match the calipers.

I had hex on two 128s, and it is very easy to keep clean. Never did more than wipe it with a damp microfiber cloth. That said, I went with fineline wood on my (ordered) 240. But then, I have the time to keep a car looking nice.

I personally prefer the fine line. Looks higher quality in my opinion.

Count me as a fan of the Fineline Stream Wood too. I have Black Dakota and the darker wood color looks just right to me. Not that I am not a fan of metal / aluminum, as I had a ribbed aluminum trim in my MINI Cooper S which I liked very much and my 912 has brushed aluminum trim. The dark wood just looks more refined in the M235i.

Another option is the gloss black. I had brushed in my CR interior and swapped for that. It's cheap too.

You also don't have to leave the color trim piece as original. With some 3M vinyl wrap, I did this to match the Valencia exterior.

I'm surprised at how thin the blue accent part is.. Here's how they show it the BMW build site.

Based on being able to wrap I'm thinking I should go blue... assuming it's thick like yours, because a black wrap would be easier to fine.

Did you do the wrap yourself?

That looks great, love VO. Saw a VO 1M at Whole Foods yesterday. My "lowly" 235 was diagonal parked across 2 spots in the far uphill corner of the lot 100 feet from anything. 1M guy parked downhill right next to shopping cart return. Car looked spotless but damn I'd be afraid to do that!

The dimensions of mine and the blue one Wolf shows are the same. The top down shot looks narrower because of the angle of the point-of-view. I wrapped the part myself (first time I've ever done that) on the car...did not remove the piece. Also continued to do the same type of piece on the left side of the IP as well. Suggest getting a small Xacto kit...I got one from Amazon. Took a couple of pieces of vinyl to learn the technique as the surface is surprisingly complex in shape when you look closely. But, if I can do this for a first project, trust me, just about anyone can do it!

I'm a fan of High Gloss Black. It does scratch if you vacuum with a tough brush, but once you know, you just clean with a microfibre cloth. I had intended to retrofit the carbon fibre but I decided that the HGB looked fine. For me, the aluminum trims are fine on the door handles but the long trim next to the iDrive looks better in HGB or CF. But everyone's preference is different.

You'll notice I've re-sprayed the base of the shift in matt black, as I didn't like the faux aluminium surround and wasn't going to pay the premium for the BMW CF replacement.
My car is Estoril Blue, and so I Photoshop'd EB for the horizontal trim and the steering wheel surround. But apart from the effort of fitting it, I didn't think it looked right, especially the blue 'Y' spoke on the steering wheel: If you can do it, or know someone who can, it might be worth getting some shots of your specific facia and Photoshop'ing various different colour combinations. It might be interesting to try and Photoshop a white trim. I've also thought about a fibre optic replacement horizontal trim with an LED color generator - but it would probably look naff in reality.

I have a MG/Terra combination with Brushed Aluminum/Black Gloss interior trim. That looks ok. If I would order again, I would go wth the Fineline Trim instead.
It really depends on the interior color. For me Fineline wood trim goes best with Terra/Oyster interior. The Aluminum best with Black/Red interior.

I guess we can kill this convo... unless it's going to help someone else.

I called to add the M-Sport package and I can't because my order went into production this morning... The move my production date from week 16 to today.. week 14.
