Smile Torn. Please help a Newbie.

Hey Guys & Girls. I'm a long time reader and 1st time poster. So Hi

I really need your help please. I am trading my 116i M Sport Plus for either a E93 or F33 Convertible.

I'm posting a duplicate thread on the E93 section of the forum too just to get both sides of the story.

I've done as much research as I can but I'm still unable to decide. The E93 I've seen is cheaper by £2,640 and has more kit but the F33 looks nicer and has more modern kit.

If people are interested here is the full list of kit on the E93;
- Folding Mirrors
- Media Package Pro
- Sat Nav Pro
- Enhance Bluetooth (USB & Voice)
- DAB Radio
- USB Audio
- Cruise Control
- Park Distance Control (rear only)
- Headlight wash
- Rain & light sensor
- Xenon Headlights
- Heated Seats
- Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror
- Automatic Air Con
- Extended Interior Light Pack
- Electric Front Seats

Whereas the F33 has all of that (minus Electric Front Seats) and the Cruise Control has the brake function (don't think the E93 has the brake function) plus;
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Extended Storage
- Through Load System
- Wind Deflector
- Air Collar
- Full Black Panel Display
- Comfort Pack

They both have less than 20k on the clock and both are 2014 models, both manual and both have 2l Diesel engines (for economy). The F33 is £23,490 and the E93 is £20,850 but I was hoping people could let me in on how their particular vehicle is working out for them, problems, running costs, ect.

Thanks a lot Guys and Girls. I hope to hear from you soon

In the history of the forum, I don't think anyone has ever advised taking the cheaper option, so be prepared. Firstly you'll be pushed towards the F33, and then they'll start to work on the engine...

Good luck and be strong

I guess, however I'm more concentrating on what people come back with in regards to problems, running costs, kit and general issues that people have or had with their 320d or 420d Convertible.

I'd go for the later model - will almost definitely hold its value better in the long term

If you are intending keeping long term, then there is one critical point : get the oil and oil filter changed roughly halfway between the recommended distances (usually about every 9k miles).

Having come from an E91 estate to the F31, I can say that the difference is remarkable. The F3x just feels brilliant in comparison.

The E93 looks very dated now compared to the F33! At only £2.6k difference it's an absolute no brainer!

If you are keeping it long term, you don't want to buy a car based on a platform from around 14 years ago... The e9x is an old car now, the f3x is a significantly better car all around, as you'd expect being newer in design/technology.

The extra options of that e93 don't make it a better buy as you can't get away from the fact the e9x is an old car now.

Are you feeling ok?

But agreed, the 3.0 is the better option.

This.
Even brand new cars are on old technology as it takes so long to test everything when building a new car let alone for one to finally end up in a dealership. 20k for an e series bar an m3 is a bit daft imo when you can get an entire generation newer for not much more.

Cool

Hey Guys.

Thanks for everyone's feedback, I thought it'd be more of a 50/50 split but the F33 seems to be the better option. I'll see if I can negotiate a discount from the £23,490 to soften the blow a little.

I'll keep you guys posted of the outcome.
