Polishing advice
So my 335d gt is now 4 months old and want to get the paintwork back to showroom standard. Just bought a das6 pro but as the paintwork is still in good condition do I need to polish or simply use a non abrasive polish and wax?
Looking at chemical guys pre cleanser wax or autofinesse rejuvenate. HELP please what should I use? |

I just spent about 2 days on my new 340i Estoril Blue a week or so ago. Whilst it was brand new and most would argue it didn't need doing, I wanted to machine polish it to correct any imperfections in the paint. Believe it or not it was quite heavily swirled so I was definitely glad I did it. I machine polished it with my DAS6 Pro, microfibre Meguiars pad and Menzerna FG400. Once that was done I finished off with Fusso wax, absolutely incredible stuff that. End results were fantastic, really really deep shine to the paint. You could use your DAS6 to apply Tripple or SRP, you don't have to spent hours doing tonnes of passes over the panels if you go down that route as they are only really light polishes and will never achieve full correction but will certainly hide and mask any imperfections in the paint. |

If the paint is still in good condition which it should be at 4 months old I would suggest full decontamination with fallout remover/ tar remover etc and apply some Carpro Reload or Gtecniq C2.
Very easy to use with great glossy finish that lasts a good few months. |

Couldn't agree more, sorry, I completely forgot to include that in my post. I used a Ferecla Clay Mitt as opposed to a traditional clay bar. Really impressed, much more economical than a normal clay bar and just as effective. Also with it being 4 month old it may be worth using some tar and iron fallout remover, just to make sure the paint is completely contaminant free.

I think you should consider reading up further on detailing forums if this is your first time polishing. You may want to even practice on a spare panel if you can.
A pre wax cleanser is like a liquid clay bar so chances are there will be very little to clay after this stage. It's all in the preparation so use a pre-wash like snow foam, then normal two bucket wash, pre-wax cleanser... clay... Autofinesse Rejuvinate may be over kill on a new finish. I would suggest DoDo Juice Lime Prime Light. You need to remove the oils left by it so use some IPA after. It depends how bad your paint is and how much cut you want. So on that note before any further advice should be given. How old is the car? Was that 4 months from new or used? General condition of paint is good but... Swirls? Scratches? Paint colour? Any protective coat on there already? If no swirls or scratches or not many then consider a protective ceramic coat. There are loads out there that hold up stronger than a wax. Enjoy waxing? Collinite 845 is my recommendation. Have a favourite wax? Use that then spay on some Sonax NPT to get you through the next 3-6 months. Last edited by Soul_Glo; 02-26-2017 at 12:28 AM.. |

Great advice here and I've never heard of a clay mitt before looks nice and easy, clayed my car last weekend in preparation for some polishing and it took ages with that little bar!
Found this review: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=330602 Off to buy one now... Oh and if you want to practice with the DAS first, do what I did and offer to polish a mates car for them, by the time I had finished I had the hang of it! (and fortunately I didn't damage the paintwork!) (and it was a ten year rusty Mazda so no loss either way!)

I think the only difference is durability. The 845 is easier to work with and is their best seller.

I've got one somewhere but not used it for ages. I think I will have to dig it out once the weather gets better. Having given the car its first wipe this year (lazily relied on the local Poles during the shite weather), the paint could do with a little TLC. |
