So I decided in Jan to change my F30 for an F36 - I'd had the F30 for 3 years and wanted to change before the Tax change in April.
Also, I have a little one on the way and needed better load space - my F30 didn't have the split seats, the F36 does along with the great tailgate. I also couldn't live without the 4 doors!

Anyhow, went with M-Sport version in Estoril Blue combined with the Ivory white leather and black Dakota interior.

Done just over 600miles in it so far (including a trip up to - but not around - Silverstone).

Only thing it skimped on was Enhanced Bluetooth - so I have Coded that in (I never used the Snap-in adaptor in my F30, but did use the text function - and the new version is a considerable step up!).





Have lurked on these forums for years now, and found them invaluable - so thanks to all, makes the idea of leaving BMW even harder.

Stuck with the 420d; I had the 2 litre f30 but the older engine N not B), and have to say the difference is very noticeable, so much more refined now.

If they had had the same model available as a 430d I would have likely gone for it, however the 20 gave me a nice balance of power and economy, and I prefer the torque of the diesel (obviously not comparing to a 335i or similar, but as a "normal" model I am very happy). Can't fault road tax of £30 from next year! Like I said wanted to get something before the rules change in April.

Whenever I do change next time around, as the tax will be higher regardless I will go for a more powerful engine (providing I stay with BMW for a while longer), then I imagine after that affordable competition to the Tesla will be rife (though we will likely keep a fun petrol car around... )

I thought EBT was part of Pro Media which is standard on the M Sport?

And correct me if I'm wrong but that looks like M Sport Plus?

You're not wrong, it is the M-Sport Plus package (sadly unlike the F30 it doesn't include high beam assist).

Bluetooth however has changed, you get media streaming as standard, and album art etc. (6NH) but EBT (6NS) required for office/sms support and Bluetooth caller pictures, and is an extra cost (also would include the snap in if ordered separately). But all works flawlessly by VO coding 6NS

And yes, loving it

Gotcha. I only use streaming so I didn't realise Office/MMS was separate. I think I'd find that a bit distracting tbh.

And just for the record, HBA is shite!

Thanks, definitely wanted the M-Sport setup, think it finishes the car nicely, and the wheels help too

Good to know! Certainly wasn't a deal breaker for me. I came from a 2012 F-30 Sport line and knew exactly what I was missing with that. Once the right boxes were ticked I was happy, plus picked it up just a week later as it was in the show room. Fancied the estoril blue for a change, my last was mineral grey which was lovely when clean (as with all of them), but needed some colour!

Well to be fair some people like it. I find, as do others on here, that it's often too slow to dip and I get people giving me the 5 second "punishment flash".

I just gave up on it in the end. I rarely use high beam anyway, I just eat lots of carrots

FBA on my C class coupe never missed a beat, always worked perfectly. All my BMW ones have always been temperamental and hit and miss. Despite this, I always spec it.

Totally agree, we have an X3 with the old 2ltr engine and having just bought an F32 with the later 2ltr diesel, it's a massive improvement. Just get ready to be slated by the 3ltr owners, for some reason they like to go on and on about how superior they are - yawn!

Not all 3.0D owners are superior, just the ones that drive F10s...... JOKE!
