Winters off and new grilles fitted..

Swapped my winters for summers today, interestingly the tyre fitter said that winter tyres only have a two year life due to the soft compound deteriorating more quickly, not sure if that's something others have heard?

Also fitted the matte black grilles, what a bugger to do without breaking clips..
broke most of the clips from the 'brute force' removal technique and broke one clip trying to fit the new ones... although its still clipped in firm enough.

So here's are some pics of the clean car...

Good timing with a storm due tomorrow and risk of snow up North

I was quite surprised how removing my 18" winters and putting the 19" wheels back on seem to make the ACS lowering less noticeable and I the 19"s definitely look like they need spacers where the 18"s didn't.. must have differing offsets?

I'm working on the basis that there will be more warmer days than cold ones... calculated risk

Have to say, as someone who isnt normally a fan of black wheels, that looks stunning on the winters....

That sounds like BS to me, I think they have a shorter shelf life if they aren't used but not as short as that! My last set of winters lasted well over 6 years.

Same here, had my last set 5 year and then sold them on still OK, because they were the wrong size for my new car

So the guy who sells tyres reckons you need new tyres? I'm sure it's totally legit!

Yes that exactly what I thought, I just smiled and nodded... given I only have them on 3 to 4 months per year and do about 5k miles, I would expect them to last a minimum or 3 or 4 winters...
