On the 330d it's a box on the right side of the engine with a couple of clips - try searching YouTube.

Box at back right of engine, undo the clips then tug the plastic top part of the filter.

Looks like a very nice ACS conversion judging by his top cover.

May I add a question? I've stuck K&N filters on previous cars and its certainly aided breathing. Is there any merit to sticking one on a 435d (as per the vid)?

For me they make no difference, even on highly modified diesels I have in the past vags with bigger hybrid turbo power (110 bhp more than stock) stock filter was best. Diesels run on excess air.

K&n are crap and usually aftermarket filters have less surface area due to the pleats! Foam is better.

It could be a cost effective depending on price but probably only go through 4 filters in the ownership of the car if that.

I'd put money on it doing next to nothing! Why don't you buy one and on your dyno day do the last run with the k&n filter that'll give you your answer.

I'd love to be proved wrong because I'd buy one lol.

Thanks mate, good gen. I think I may well try your suggestion and see if it gives any more on the RR. I've felt a slight difference on petrols I've fitted it too but as you have eluded to, may not be as effective on a diesel. Ta

Yeah try it on dyno, it might even loose power! You could keep it if it's just a same and probably pay for itself in a service or 2!

Petrols are different mate. Fyi if you look through the grill to right hand side the air pipe has an angled vent that leads to the intake tract this increases air velocity - forgot the name of it.

From both your comments, I think I'll save the £64 and spend it on something more useful.

Cheers chaps

Thanks. I searched high and low but couldn't find a guide. I wanted to try a foam filter out of curiosity and brought a Piper Cross one after some research. I am not in it for the butt dyno gains. I want something lower maintenance. In the past they have always paid off e.g. Had a K&N and after 30k miles it was still clean and did not need an oil. May be it evens out if you buy a paper filter every year though.

Looks easy to do. Will get it done when it stops snowing. Thanks
