Auto Nav update and USB maps update

Hi all,

I've logged onto my Connected Drive which says I have both of the above. Last version of maps is from May 2016, will the auto update pick up the Jan 2017 update or do I need to do it myself?

Thanks!

Should pick it up at some point, but if you want it quicker, do it manually, which will also give you the whole europe update.

Thanks! Does It give you a notification when it's downloading/done?

Yes it gives you a percentage at the top of the nav screen, then once fully downloaded it asks if you want to restart the system to update.

I did the full USB download of Europe - 27Gb.

It looked from Connected Drive like the auto car download was only GB - is that right?

It really is painfully slow to download. It took me about 13 hours last week.

Guessing there's no way to bump it into action?

It's such a large file and I have about 5 max 16g USB sticks

I know they're fairly cheap but guess I'll have to wait or buy!

Usually BMW give you the FCS code, so you may be able to find a torrent somewhere that has it split into three to put on your usb stick?

Mine downloaded completely and I closed the app thinking I could just re-open it later when I had a USB stick ready. I launched the app again and it started downloading from the beginning again, overwriting the download that had just completed!

What a waste of time that was!

Thanks for the warning! That's probably what I was going to do.

Maybe I'll give it until the end of Feb to see if it auto downloads.

When you manually download via USB you need to upload to the car on a longish journey. Even if you stop for fuel or turn the engine off it all starts again. A pain in the ass! Or just wait for the OTA updates.
