Driving roads near Baltimore?
As spring approaches I wonder if there are any nice driving road around and near Baltimore. Any suggestions that aren't more than 30 min away.

It's short, but IIRC Bellona Ave. (left off N. Charles St., follow until it rejoins Charles and becomes Kenilworth at 695) has some great twisties.

There are some GREAT roads in either Carroll county, frederick county, or N. Montgomery. Windy, general smooth, low traffic, great scenary. OP - you live in N. VA but you want to drive all the way to Baltimore to go for a drive??

Where in Charm City are you living? I lived in Roland Park during college, and a good friend from those years just moved from Towson to near the JHU Hospital.

As everyone is saying, north of the beltway, between Towson and Reisterstown, go north towards Butler...Nice roads and can easily make it back to highway (795 or 140)....

Good things, hopefully the weather holds up this weekend.
I work in the Inner Harbor and live several blocks North in Mt. Vernon or the Cultural district. There are some nice restaurants on Charles St. but I make a move closer to downtown or Harbor East. If you were local then you know how bad the roads are here, kind of makes me want to trade in my car for an SUV. |

The niceness of the Harbor Area is gradually creeping up St. Paul, Calvert and Charles towards Penn Station. You're smart to settle there now, b/c that area is getting more cosmopolitan (and more valuable) every day. If I lived in downtown Baltimore I would eat at Amicci's in little italy every day. |

Amicci's is good, but I like the food at Chiparelli's more. But I guess its a matter of opinion, there are a lot of good places to eat over there.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Are these roads the real deal? From the google map the road seems relatively straight. I'm used to G-town Pike, Riverbend Rd., Beachmill, etc. thats my stomping ground. Regardless, I will check it out this weekend. |

My husband works at Mercy Medical Center and complains every day of the poor condition of the streets downtown....
