Increasing Ambient Lighting ??

Hello, just picked my car up today. I am now the proud owner of a wife and an incredibly sexy mistress! Anyway, I am a bit disappointed that the ambient lighting is as dim as it is in the e90. My handle and puddle lighting is sufficient bright, but the ambient lighting seems dim compared to earlier 3s and 5s. Does anyone know if there is a way to boost power to the LEDs and increase ambient lighting? Could it be done by just upgrading the LED to something brighter? I love the look and I love color, but I think it would look better if it was about twice as bright as factory preset. Any comments and insight would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I would be just as interested. Love the ambient lighting. I think the dash on the new Infiniti M's looks really good.

My cars ambient lighting is just fine. I am happy the way it is.

Our vehicles are nearly identical, David. The jet black on black is just plain awesome. I have pumped the dash brightness all the way up and the ambient lighting is still dimmer than I would prefer. I mean, it is there and it looks good and I am satisfied, but I think it would look tons better if it were 50-100% brighter. Personally, I think this would be a killer mod. Maybe it's just me, but it sounds like nobody has done it yet, at least not on a BMW.

Sounds like a little homework needs to be done and this one attempted, if possible.

Cool bpbenda. I think the 325 is a great package but of course if finances would have been better, the 330 would have been my car. But with a AUD$20,000.00 price difference yes twenty thousand between the 325 and 330 (albeit the 330 has more standard features than the 325 here), it is a big difference.

I hope you find what you are looking for in ambient brightness increase. I will be driving my car tonight so I will check out the lighting situation especially and get back to you with a second opinion.

Cheers and welcome to the board

you do know that turning up the gauge lighting also turns up the ambient lighting, right? use the controls on the stalk.

i personally have the problem that i want the gauge cluster at min brightness but the ambient lighting at max.

Yes, Robb, I have maxed the dash brightness but the ambient lighting is still comparatively dim. I have read that it is supposed to be like this on the e90 compared to prior years. I don't know why. But where there is a will there is a way. I am going to do some digging on this one and hope to work up a solution. I agree that I would also prefer to min the dash and max the ambient. We'll see what's possible.

I dont think theres a way to increase it without modifications. Perhaps if you replaced the ambient lighting bulbs with LEDs of the same color it will increase the lighting effect.

i have e92 325D 2008 with light package and the light is very low. I believe that it could be increased via NCSE coding... does anybody know?
