Can anyone explain why Cold Start Delete is a benefit to the S65 engine?
Besides noise reduction, how is this a good thing?
Tuners please weigh in, since it comes as a checkmark from the tuners....
thanks

Cold start is to warm up the cats. If you remove the cats there is nothing there anymore to warm up, that is why people delete it.

I thought the higher idle of a cold start is to help the car reach operating temperatures faster. Correct me if i am wrong

This car takes 10-15mins of driving in the middle of summer to come to temp.

It's for the cats.

I have a 10 min drive to work. at 60*F in the morning, my car barely reaches the first mark on temp (170*?). That is when the auto-adjusting redline hits maximum and what I would consider the MINIMUM temperature that you could call "warmed up".

I'm in Miami, its always 90 degrees here. Takes 5 minutes to be just under the 220. Crazy amount of difference.

I haven't tracked yet, but generally during August this year (massive heat wave) I hover just around 200-205.

All that damn oil heating up haha.

Took the wife's outback out today and it was warm at the end of our neighborhood.

If your car is garaged, consider the garage temp not outdoor temp, in fall or winter.... For the folks north of FL.
The block temp at startup is the critical factor.
