Possible Purchase

So I opened up a thread in the e90 forums about replacing my TDI's with either the e90 335d or going with a newer f30 328d. I'm already fully aware of the pros and cons of the e90 diesel but I'm having a hard time finding a lot of user feedback on the f30 diesel's. What are you guys' thoughts? Any issues and do you recommend anything in particular I need to watch out for? Thanks in advance

The only issue with mine was the NOx sensor was bad right when I bought it (bought new 3/14 with 20 miles on it)

I'm at about 57k on it now without any issue aside from maintenance items.

Are these as prone to carbon build up as the 335d?

Couldn't tell you, but most people think they can drive a diesel like a gas, so they don't ever think about getting them warm. They aren't meant for a short commutes, and need to be ran every so often to clean the system out.

I've driven mine like I stole it since the first day I bought it (is didn't know about the break-in period until after I had already hit 10k) and haven't had any issues with it that wasn't a maintenance item aside from the NOx sensor.

My wife an I have put 90,000 miles between the both of us on our tdi's in 3 years so I know what you mean. Such a shame what happen with VW, I still have my doubts about the whole "dieselgate" thing. I think there's more happening behind closed doors then we think.

Wish there was more support for these 328d's on the forums but at least there's not a lot of threads about issues people are having either.

We doubt it, but no-one (except BMW) actually knows.

the EPA has been anti-diesel for as long as I can remember, dieselgate was the thing they've been looking for to finally get the public to see that diesel is bad. If they could see the overall strength of diesel sales worldwide along with the benefits of it, they'd sing a different tune about it, but the masses are idiots and will believe whatever the government will tell them.

Support for the d's are slowly starting to show up, so it won't be too much longer. Although, I have recently found a DPF delete downpipe for our cars, I'm just not sure where the entry point for the DEF is, so idk if it will fully work.
