A 3" dual exhaust will be incredibly heavy. There are more cons than pros for going dual 3".

The way I see it a 3.5 single into 1 muffler would not flow near cfms as dual. As far as weight use thin material. You have to know how to make things light. Because light weight = more speed. & with turbos more flow = more power.

No one makes dual 3 inch exhaust. Get one fabbed for probably $1500. The car will sound like shit and you won't make any more power.

You're not going to make more power with two duals vs a 3.5" single. If you throw a 5" exhaust on your car you're not going to make more power vs a 3.5" single unless you're approaching the 1500hp range.

A 3" dual system will weigh at least 45lbs more than a single 3.5". A single 3.5" exhaust shaves about 40 lbs vs the OEM setup.

The material thickness is irrelevant at that point, there's no magical stainless steel material that's as thin as a tin can.

Yea but going full retard wont make power neither. The 335i platform does not struggle in the exhaust department so going with a bigger diameter doesnt mean more power. The oem flows even into the 600+whp ranger so you wont need to excessively open up flow for a pony. Plenty cars which makes a lot more power than the N54 still benefit from a 3 or even a 3.25" catback. The N54 just isnt one of those platform that needs to see significant exhaust upgrades to gain power.
