No heat shielding, the one with heat shielding costs much much more than this one. The stock airbox provides more than enough flow.

Its definitely a deeper induction tone at WOT. Also, with slight throttle there is a small whine noise. Ive been asked a few times if I had an S/C because of this. Its not annoying at all, I think its neat.
