Just fitted some new wheels

I was planning on waiting for at least another year before getting some new wheels and tires, but a recent visit to my dealership for routine service found that two of my tires were severely worn and in immediate need of replacement.

Since there was no way in hell I was putting on new run-flat tires on two wheels.. let alone put new tires on a set of 17" wheels I wasn't in love with (turbines) I bit the bullet and just went for it.

I had toyed with several options, but in the end I just couldn't justify most of them because of their cost. There is no way I am putting a $900+ wheel on a car that's worth maybe 20k... haha...

In the end I chose the TRMotorsport MT1 wheel and some 225/40/18 General Exclaim UHPs. I had these tires on my golf a couple years ago and loved them... The wheels are 18x8.5 et44 and according to Tire Rack are reported to weigh 18.5lbs a piece. I didn't put them on a scale before I mounted them, but the wheel/tire combo was considerably lighter than what was on there. I'm guessing between 7-9lbs lighter a corner?

On a side note everything that everyone has said about ditching run-flat tires is sooooo true. Its like I'm driving a totally different car since I put these on. Night and day different even with the increase in wheel diameter. The wheel in my opinion complements the the car pretty well and the color is spot-on for my Sterling Silver Metallic. The only thing I might add in the future is a set of 8-10mm spacers for the rear. Other than that I couldn't be happier. On with the pics!

Comments welcome.

Looks great! I'm considering these very same wheel from tirerack, but wasn't sure how they'd look on a Z4. Is your car lowered or OEM suspension?

they do in an ET35.

they would honestly probably fit. just go to tirerack and select a Z4M model and they'll show up.
