Performance Numbers, Which Ones Matter Most to You?
With all the big hp builds(relative to this platform) and rapid growth over the past year, we still don't see the hp numbers translating except in roll races.
So for the people who have done builds or people who plan, what numbers matter most to you from most to least.(strictly speed related) WHP 0-60 1/8th 1/4th 60-130 Trap For me 1/4th Trap 1/8th 0-60 WHP 60-130 |

trap speed all the way. Even if you have the worst launch in the world, your trap speed will show the true potential. You can estimate WHP and 1/4 mile time based on trap speed.

Traps are good but I prefer 30-130, 60-130, 100-200kph, etc. It takes all the variables of a launch out of the equation and leaves pure acceleration #'s. Of course you need to have a Vbox, which I do. I use it on all my logs, tune revisions, 1/4 runs, etc. Along with recording the DA, it really quantifies the data and gives you a complete picture of exactly how your car is running.

ET is what matters to me and is what wins races. Trap speeds can be artificially high with excessive wheel spin so means nothing without a good ET to go with it.

ET just mean good traction from a dig and getting off quicker if you have a low trap. It does not mean an ET of 11.7 @ 116 mph is faster than a car doing an ET of 12.5 @ 121 mph Traps speed differences also tells you the difference in power. To settle any of this though vBox numbers would be better since it does not require any special launch technique or skill as you do in drag racing |
