The BMW installation intructions for an OEM Strut Bar (E85), indicate 35Nm for all M8 bolts. However, if you have any M10 bolts that came along with your SB, the specified torque is 52Nm...

How long did Tischer take to ship? I've got an order in with them and 5 days later the status still says "processing."

I guess it depends on what you order, but it took 7 bus days (no Sat delivery). I am in CA also. With the money I saved w/ free shipping, no tax and $330 final price, it was well worth the wait. Local dealer didn't want to budge on price at all and I would get stuck paying almost 8%tax.

Do you really need to torque it to that exact number? I don't have any kind of special set that lets me know how much torque it's at. I just have a regular old hand socket wrench set and twist it until it's tight.

Is that wrong?

It's not wrong, but its not right either.

If its too loose, it'll rattle loose, if its too tight, you run the risk of stretching/breaking bolts.

If you're ever around the Northern TO area, gimme a shout, I got a torque wrench you can borrow.

Or wait til Canadian Tire has them on sale. They usually go for about half price on sales at 60-90 depending if its the big wrench or the little wrench.

I hate when this happens. Today, I e-mailed the company asking for a follow-up on my order status, since it has said processing for 6 days now. I got no reply to my message, but the status abruptly changed to "completed" and now there's a tracking number. This gives the impression my order's just been sitting there, and my e-mail prompted someone to look for the box and go "Oh, crap, this was supposed to go out days ago!"

Here is a link to Tischer, I checked Mile ONE and it looks like it is not on special right now. I would wait till it goes to $330 or call them direct. Good Luck!

Call me a dork, but I've got 2 torque wrenches, one that handles low range (like for the STB application) and one that takes care of the higher range (like for wheel bolts, etc.). I don't trust the accuracy of the higher range ones to properly torque such as 25 lb.ft

Don't mean to be pimpin' other Z sites, but here's my thread / review of the STB: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2581

Unless you're planning on tracking the Coupé, the improvement in stiffness is negligible for day-to-day driving.

1) the bar made no noticeable difference on my 2.5i roadster. I thought it might because I've had good results with one for my Miata and on my 911.
2) the BMW .pdf HAS TECHNICAL DRAWINGS THAT ARE INCORRECT. THE DRAWING SHOWS THE SHOCK TOWER RINGS REVERSED FROM CORRECT. (Wrong side)
