Removing Insect Stain

I've got a brownish bug stain on the hood of my Glacier Silver Metallic. I've tried soaps and tar/insect remover but the stain remains. The surface is completely smooth.

I'm reluctant to try an abrasive or a rubbing compound but I will if that's the only choice. Unfortunately the stain is nicely centered on the hood so if I mar the finish it will be very obvious.

I'd be grateful for suggestions. Thanks.

Hey selmeralto,
Gotta post a detailed picture of it to make a judgement. Bugs are bad, period. The longer they stay on and bake, the worse it is. Some type of compound is necessary I'm sure.

Use WD40. Use a microfiber and spray WD40 on it and gently rub the stained area. You may have to do this a few times to get it off completely. I picked up some bug stain over the weekend from a trip also and will need to have GI party on my 2.

Thanks, folks. Can't get to the car for few hours. Will try the WD-40. If that doesn't work, I'll post a picture.

Will post results.

Well, I'll be damned: I went out to the car and the stain is gone. I did read somewhere that some stains do get bleached out by the sun. And the car was in the sun for a couple of days. I'll go out again later and make sure I'm not missing the stain because of sun glare.

In the meantime, thanks for the suggestions. I'll be back in touch if the stain is still there I can't get it out.

Typically you have to use polish. Check out junkmans video for instructions.
