New Panny

So what do we think of the new Panamera? The old one looked hideous and this looks....better but not a lot. I don't know too soon to judge not seen one.

On a more sporting note the Turbo has done the 'Ring in 7:38, holy moley that is fast for a sedan. What's the stick M5?

http://www.porsche.com/microsite/panamera/uk.aspx#home

I still think the one to wait for would be the hatchback type variant that a concept a while ago. proportions looked spot on. This Panny tries too hard to look like a 4 door 911, its clearly not.

PS the Diesel is £92k!!!! £18k deposit then £1050 a month.....tempting....

I'm a secret admirer. My business partner has one and likes it much more than his 911. Great road presence.

I'll be taking a look at the estate when it comes out but the thing I dislike is the width which could prove a handful on our narrow country lanes.

Current shape is very wheel and colour sensitive. I've seen a few that look great and others that look terrible. A used turbo is still very expensive and that's the one you want.
New one looks good.

The Panamera is/was a stunning car and so far ahead of anything BMW can do.

if I had the money I wouldn't look back at the blue roundel.

There hasn't been many 911s that can match that round the ring at 7.38 it's as fast as a 458 or 997 turbo, which is ridiculous.

Stunning car looks/interior/acceleration/handling.

But even bigger than the gen 1.

5 metres long FFS. My business partner has the gen 1 and won't be upgrading on account of the size. Often he struggles to get down narrow 2 way streets

The V8 diesel S has some great on paper stats.

177 mph/0-60 4.1/42mpg from a 2.1 tonne, 5 metre long car.

But its closest rival the M6GC is pretty much the same size and it's not that much bigger than my old F10 M5 TBH.

Crazy money for a VW group car at the end of the day! no thanks but ETTO no doubt ahead of BMW but its they are in a different segment so you can't compare. 18k down and 1k a month - i'm sure one can find something else

Like 300k for a Lambo? Or 200k on a Bentley? or 250k for a Rolls Royce after all that's a BMW group business

Porsche SE own the controlling stake in VW BTW.

I'm sure you're correct but your M5 fits three across the back. Why does the Panny have to be so wide as s 2+2? My business partner gave me a good look at his yesterday and the rear cabin is like an anti-tardis. How can there be so little accommodation in such a big car?

Isn't that just the same with the M6GC though? It's probably more about road presence and achieving an overall look/feel than trying to be a practical family car.

Fair point I was being churlish due to the shock of the monthlies to drive that (IMO of course)

Certainly. And boy does the Panny have presence. Sometimes on all three lanes simultaneously ;-)
