criminal investigation with Alexandria, VA police

Anyone here ever filed a police report with the Alexandria PD? I filed one last weekend and haven't had any calls back or returned voicemails from my officer who did the initial report. Do they usually take a long time to start an investigation and what not? Is there anything I can do to speed things up? If anyone knows a cop on the force or is a personal injury lawyer on the board here I would really appreciate a moment of your time. Please PM me for details, thanks.
