PP on e90

I have the premium package in my Audi. And I really dont see the value in that pckg. The auto-dim for the rear view and side mirrors does not work that well. I skipped the PP with my new e90 on order. Anyone have experience with the non-Prem pckg mirrors? How do they work at night?

The general consensus is if you're already opting for the $1,450 leather interior option then the ZPP isn't too far a stretch to gain other features like folding mirrors, BMW Assist/Bluetooth, dimming mirror etc.

Thanks for the insight. That diddnt really answer my question. I went with leatherette BTW. I want to know how the non-premium package rear and side view mirrors work at night (glare/too bright, etc.) Thanks

The rear mirror dim is ok. It still lags when bright lights first appear, but I think that's pretty standard. I do like having the side mirrors dim. Also, the reverse drop down of the passenger side mirror is awesome - I find myself using it all the time I am in reverse. I never knew how useful it was to see the curb when parallel parking, especially here in Boston. I'm not sure if that's just standard or part of the Premium Pkg.

Also the power fold mirrors might be useful in the North End or Beacon Hill!

Ok, I looked in the owners manual (page 50 for 07) and it says its optional, but that could be in Canada. It's name is "Passenger-side mirror tilt funtion - automatic curb monitor*" The * means "if equipped".

To answer your question:
I don't have any issue with the non-dimming mirrors. I too, opted not to get ZPP. If needed, you can always turn the clown nose on the rear view mirror if you're getting blinded by some idiot that is behind you with his high beams on.

I didn't opt for the ZPP and I don't have any issues w/ the non-dimming mirrors (I got my windows tinted to take care of that ), leatherette or the lack of BMW Assist / Bluetooth.

What I wish I had was the folding mirror function. Kind of embarassing getting on and manual turning the side mirrors.

Don't have premium package either on my E90. No problems with rear view or side mirrors. I have 30% tint all around. I also have tilt feature for reverse.

i've used auto dimming mirror in a couple of my friends cars (non-bmw's) and i don't like them.

i feel the regular mirrors work fine for me. i also have 35% tint all around, so that helps out too.

I didn't get the PP (did get Gray leather though). Don't like auto dimming rear view mirror (had it on my E46). Don't need garage door opener, folding mirrors or BT. The only thing I missed was the lumbar support for my seat but I fixed that by removing seat back and putting a folded up towel in the appropriate position. If you don't get PP but want the auto dimming rear view mirror (with or without garage door opener) you can it from BMW parts (dealer or online).

Thanks. That sounds like quite the lumbar substitute! Is your car a lease? How long did that DIY take?

+1 BT is incredibly well implemented on the E9x. You would think, since it's German and electronic, it would suck. But no!

As long as there is the option to manually flip the rear view, should be good. Thanks

Well when I talked to my sales guy regarding resell value, he said that honestly the premium package does make a difference, the rest of add-on is only a side thing.
