Maintenance question

Why do M cars require differential and tranny fluids changed at 1200 miles and none-M cars at the regular 30k miles? Especially when 1M and M235 have the same tranny as far as I know....

The theory

The theory was that if you did early oil changes any metal shavings
that were circulating from break in would be flushed and not cause further
wear . And most of the break in happens in the first 1000 miles. Some people would do this as a standard practice on any new car.
I think they are assuming that since this is a high performance car you may be hitting it harder.
