Maintenance

Hey guys,

So I have hit 86 000 km on my 2011 328xi and lately I have noticed a significant increase in sluggishness when I push the throttle.

In addition it also sounds like my engine is making subtle "whirring" sounds as if it is trying to hard.

I purchased the car 2 years ago, and have only needed to do minimal maintenance (eg; oil change, fluids etc.) so far.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this notice is "lack" of power???

Also, what components need to be typically changed after 80 k?

Thank you for you help,

Drive Safe!

Change the spark plugs and clean the intake filter (or change it). It's a bit early but it'll probably make a difference

What is an intake filter? You mean the intake silencer? That filter should be changed at 40,000 to 60,000 mile intervals not 86,000 miles. If you didn't change that yet then that won't be your biggest problem. trust me.

EDIT: I misread! It's not 80,000 miles its 80,000 km which is like 50,000 miles.

Time to get the bms powerbox! I had it in my previous 07 328i and it helped reduced the lag I was having and made the car more fun to drive.

Do the following:

Change the plugs
Install a K&N air filter
Change the oil and run an engine flush through it prior to changing it
Run a bottle of 20 gallon Techtron or Redline fuel injector treatment. You should do this twice a year.

Techtron

Redline

I have an AFE filter already, was planning on changing the plugs also. Oil was changed 2 weeks ago ( no flush).

Thanks for the fuel injector tip will buy asap.

Cheers,
