~F36 GranCoupe Custom Sub Enclosure~
I made one of these for my GC, and thought I'd see if anyone else would be interested in one? I can make them to fit either a 10" or 12" sub and as you can see in the photos, the dyed carpet is a VERY close match to stock. It takes me about a week to put one together, so if your interested, it'll require a small amount of patience to receive. This sits right over your battery and friction fits into place. I'll test fit it in my own car before shipping to ensure a precise fitment. Thanks! Mike Last edited by Titan 3; 05-12-2016 at 11:21 PM.. |

The enclosure is three layers of fiberglass with a lathe cut 3/4" mdf ring. They are also countersunk so the speaker face sits flush with the carpeted surface. I'm located in Nashville, TN, so I assume there will be shipping involved. These aren't terribly heavy so costs shouldn't be very high. Here's another pic from a more extreme angle. You can see that the sub is flush with the enclosure better from here. Thanks, Mike |

That looks great! I would like to add the JL W6 but im unsure what else I would need to make it work. I assume I would need an amp as well. Any recommendations? I would like to run my stock speakers for now with the sub but later on down the road, I would replace them. What would be the easiest solution to run a W6 with your sub enclosure? Thanks.

As far as amps go, Something with a small footprint is ideal. I've used an Alpine PDX 1.600, which is a digital amp that doesn't produce much heat. Pretty solid piece too. I'm currently using a old school Nakamichi piece, but that's just because I'm a sucker for OG Nak equipment. That was a long answer... Amp, Harness, LOC. |

Awesome! Let me do a little more research. I think I'm going to go for it. I can give you a definite answer by Sun. Can you let me know where I should buy the JL W6 and the amp? What do you think about JL amps? I haven't had a "system" for over 2 decades. I used to run Alpine decks (7909), Orion amps and subs. I'm jonesing for some more bass in this car!

Would this sub work? http://www.amazon.com/10W6v3-D4-Audi.../dp/B00BWCTYN4
I read that its optimal enclosure size is 0.55 cu ft. Is your enclosure that size? If so, sign me up! Last edited by Maximus_M2; 04-16-2016 at 02:23 AM.. |

Just thought of something. If I decide to upgrade my speakers in the future but add the sub now, would it be more cost effective if I went for a 6 or 8 channel amp instead of the 2 channel Alpine amp? I'd probably go with the JL Audio XD600/6v2 or the JL XD800/8v2. Would this amp be sufficient to drive my stock speakers and a JL 10w6? Thanks!

I'd say it depends on your realistic timeline. Check with Technic and find out what his harnesses can accomplish. If he has one that covers a full speaker replacement, I'd invest in that now, but you might be surprised how much better the stock setup sounds just by adding a bit of low end to it. If it'll be awhile, or you're unsure about speaker replacement, maybe just consider a dedicated sub amp for now. You can always add to it or sell it for a 5 or 6 channel replacement. One of the things I like about the PDX amps is that they are stackable, and fit really nicely in the cubby under the trunk floor. Lastly, you'll likely find that if Technic makes a harness to replace the front speakers, it may not replace the rears. Rear speakers can often be left for fill (rear passenger experience) and just run off of the factory amp. If you do an amplified replacement, it'll likely be under-seat subs ideally band-passed as mid-bass drivers, and front door mids/tweets. That'll consume 4 channels. |

10w6v3 would be a pretty great option for you. I have to build these by hand, so I can adjust internal volume accordingly. a bit over 1/4 a cubic foot seems pretty ideal to keep the enclosure from protruding into the cargo space tho.
If you are committed to one, please send me your zip and I'll get a final price with shipping for you, and a paypal address to make payment to. Thanks again, Mike |

Titan would you have access to an M4 so you could build a box for me like this? I would be willing to pay the $300 and am planning on running a 10W6 also.
Thx |

I would just like to add that Mike is one of the most helpful members I've ever done business with. I plan on posting a full write up on his fantastic sub enclosure and even more amazing customer service. Until then, here are a couple pics that I just took. Let's just say it sounds unreal and looks like it could have came from BMW as a factory option!
