if I want to keep my car powered up for diagnostics

Can I connect a good car battery with jumper cables?

All I really want to do is the power bleed using Rheingold where it uses the ABS pump to flush each caliper. I believe that if the vehicle drops below a certain voltage, the function will get grayed out. It feels like the car is killing the battery when the ignition is in the on position--someone said it still should last 5 hours? But I don't think so.

I'm not into spending $500+ for a power supply, and don't plan on coding where I know you do not want to not have one hooked up.

I actually have my old BMW original battery, it is in good shape, and charged up. Wondering if I can hook that up with jumper cables to keep my car energized while I do the brake bleed....thanks.

A decent battery charger is good to have in the garage. I have a 2/10/50 amp charger and use it for keeping power on vehicles and charging up the occasional drained battery. I couldn't imagine not having one. I put mine in 10 amp mode for keeping power on a car while working on things.

So I guess you've got something like this, and put it in 10 AMP mode for diagnostics, is this OK when the ignition is on? Sounds like it is....I guess what I am driving at is how do we make sure things are safe and we don't damage our (Precious lol) BMW electronics?

I saw guys talking about coding and they need something like this, which is out of the question based on cost....also, they don't seem to hook it up to the jump start terminals, but somewhere on the wheel arc????
