Is vinyl wrapping that hard?

I'm looking to wrap my window trim on my e92. I was looking for a shop who would do it but can't find one in my budget so I'm gonna just do it myself and hope for good results. To everyone who DIY'd their window trim, how hard was it and do you have any advice for someone who has never done anything remotely close to this. I'll be using a blow dryer to heat it up and I'm gonna try and convince my gf to help me out with the task. From what I've read the only really tough part is the curve on the rear window.

I haven't done the window trim, but just finished all of my interior trim. This was my first time doing vinyl wrap, and it was surprisingly very easy to do with no experience. I used 3m scotchprint CF and heating it up to cover corner was the easiest part of the job.

Good luck!

Just saw this post in another thread that may give some insight for difficulty and how-to.

I watched some videos on youtube and have wrapped some interiors before so felt confident enough to try it. I basically used a heat gun and a hard card (similar to credit card). i think this video is one of the main ones i referenced:

Pics? I plan on doing my interior and wrapping it in cf fabric too but I just got some gloss black grilles and the chrome window trim ruins the look of it so I decided to tackle it first. But you're basically saying I should be fine as long on the curvy parts as long as I heat up the vinyl

My friend and I wrapped is trim in a Carbon Fiber Wrap. It was surprisingly easy and entertaining. Just make sure to pick up a heat gun!!!

Are you set on wrapping? Have you considered spray painting? I'm restoring all my faded exterior trim with black satin spray w/satin clear coat. I did it with my front grills with no problems and looks great IMO.

Look up TVTara YouTube channel. She has a excellent video on how to do it on a e90/e92. She is probably somewhere on these forums and can probably guide you somewhat. I just did mine watching her video and she made it look really easy.

What mount is that? Looks clean and in about the position I want mine.

I bought a Kuda mount but the fitment fucking sucks and the metal connections at the plastic are off so its not aligned properly.

I think I'm just gonna go with the BMW tomtom mount and hack up a swivel ball to get my Nexus 7 the way I want it.

Just finished wrapping the trim. For a beginner I did decent. Took me the whole night and part of the morning. I was really impatient and tried rushing at first which didn't go well so I wasted alotta material and Was t patient enough to get under my mirrors so I just cut it off right at the housing at each side. And I could not get it wrapped around the rear curve for the life of me so I just cut it. Definitely not satisfied with the the outcome. But it'll suffice for now. Im transferring to a different college so I'm focused on getting an apartment and a new job. And after I settle and refresh my suspension and get some wheels then I'll pay a shop to do it
But thanks to bimmette for the advice. She helped me save what would've been a complete disaster lol.
