Did BMW really offer tan interior with gray headliner?

So I'm shopping for a new car right now and I stumbled upon this 328i at a local dealer. It's everything I'd want in a 328i and I love the black/tan color scheme for the interior.

But one thing seems to be out of place. The fact that the headliner and pillars are gray seems kind of odd when the seats are tan. I'm worried that this car was some kind of flood rehab with a new interior installed.

Does anyone here have one of these color combos? Can anyone say that they also have seen this kind of interior on other BMWs?

Should be same color as seats.. Get the full carfax report from the dealer. If some major work was done to the car it should be in there.

I have saddle brown seats, black carpet, grey headliner. Wish it was black headliner at least. It's weird, but they do it.

Yeah, I did check the car fax and it was clean. Good thought though. And every tan interior 3 series I've seen has always had the tan headliner. But this two-ton may be different.

OP, That interior is called "Oyster", it's different from the "Tan Beige" you are used to seeing. It's a factory color combo, no reason to be concerned about flood damage just because of that.

With Oyster the leather is closer to a white color, and pretty much everything that isn't leather is black (except the headliner, unless you get m-sport). The Tan Beige is more of a yellow tan, and there isn't any contrast with black - everything is that same tan color.

Beige:

Oyster

Good catch. In OPs pic the seats do look tan\beige but you are right it is oyster color seats, which do have the gray headliner.

Fravel - Thanks for spelling it out. That makes sense. I can now see why the headliner isn't tan. I've never seen this Oyster option before. Now that it seems kind of rare that makes me want the car even more.

If you want to compare options, google "BMW VIN Decoder" and enter the (usually) last 7 from the VIN. I looked up the car from the website in the photo and plugged it in for you. Looks nicely equipped!

Some of the line items are on all vehicles, or seem cryptic. But it's a good way to check what was included on the vehicle order. You can usually figure out if it has certain packages like Cold Weather package, Convenience Package, etc. depending on what's offered at the time and what shows up.

Plus you'll walk in with more info than the dealer has (sometimes).

Xenon headlights, rollerblinds, PDC, etc.

Welcome - I agree that the Oyster is very good looking and the rarity does lend to it's desirability, but I would look for a car that has sport package already if I was you. The upgrade to the seats alone is worth the search.

And the odds of finding oyster sport seats for sale is really low if you're attempting to retrofit. From all of the more rare color non-individual interiors, Oyster doesn't come very often. Better to find a car with it already installed.
