Im in canada and my dealer uses 5w30. I just came across this and thought might be interesting because of the M logo on the bottle, if this would be the specific oil used for the turbo m engines..

It's the same stuff as the Mobil 1 you find at Walmart (at around $25/5 quarts) At least the old formula. Mobil 1 recently changed their formula and their 0w-40 is no longer BMW LL01 compliant.

I just checked this out, and sure enough-you are right. I wonder what they did in terms of formulation to lose this cert. This is all I have ever run in my M. I even brought my own oil to the dealer the one time I let them touch my car (oil change wise-1,200 mile service). Since then, I've done all of my own changes and sent a sample to Blackstone each time with perfect results. I'll continue to use the M1 0-40 Euro formula, but again wonder what the deal is...

My car has been asking for 1 quarts of oil roughly every 2000km and the dealer mentioned it to be fine. I am just wondering if it is down to Bmw's oil not capable enough for the engine. I am going to get a blackstone for a test.

I have been eyeing this for the past few months, may give it a try of the new 0W40.
I believe it is made by Shell's GTL tech. Since BMW switched to Shell, they been coming up with all these new oils. I have also tried the New Castrol Edge 0W40, the Made in Germany one, on my younger brother's W218 CLS550 and wife's R172 SLK350, I can say it is really good as well, as well as the reviews online.
