I haven't heard anything from my dealer about timing chain tensioner or other components. I guess I'll just wait until it dies on the highway? :

Funny I was just researching this today as some local guys were talking about the new big turbo and how the timing chain might not take it. After looking it up I found an article that said BMW was being proactive on replacing the old ones, but when I called my dealer they said no and they cannot change it without BMW issue an order to replace them. Not sure how widespread the problem is. I have an extended warranty so not going to worry about it, but would suck if it happened.

When you say newer... Are we talking 01/2015 and on? Just bought a new to me 2014 f31 and there is a lot more noise coming from up front on mine than I hear from my current loaner (punctured a run flat and they had to order the tire).

Just took my 2012 328i (build date 12/11) to dealer for a OFH recall and new front windshield. When I picked it up SA told me tech found issue with my timing chain whining and they have to do a "puma" where they tear it all apart and take pictures. She said they will be replacing it.
