Shop to install downpipe/intake?
I'm curious to know? I can't seem to get a quote from a shop anywhere nearby me in VA to install a downpipe (ER) and intake (BMS).
I've went to RRT but they don't touch ER (or catless for that matter) and let alone the BMS intake (They seem to be pretty firm on installing Akra/Dinan gears). All the other shops flat-out reject me because, "illegal".

Install the intake yourself. Give Pure Auto Performance a call see if they can do it.

I'll check them out, just hunting down quotes for Spring/Summer install.

Have you checked Ptuning in Manassas? They have installed my AR catless dps for something around $300-$350. They work well too. For intake You can install it by yourself otherwise they will charge you $50-$100 for that little work. Or bring it to Fairfax, I will install it for you
If you wanna go cheaper, there is a guy in MD, he works in BMW dealer service and has a shop in his garage, but it takes 1 hour from Fairfax.

For downpipes that will be hard to put it back to stock. Takes like 3-4 hours, and bunch of money.. Tune and intake is the easy part, but I would think about DPs one more time if you have warranty

Not that, I feel like it'd be an inconvenience having to take off the down pipe/tune/intakes/charge pipes every time I have to take it into the dealership.

I dont plan on uninstalling my JB4 next time I go in. Just unplugging it from the OBDII and tucking it under the dash. As far a DP... I think i've come up with an easyish fix for at least MD owners. Not sure what the laws are down in VA though. |

s0ul - have you considered dinan? Sterling offers D products?
Folks please don't turn this into a anti dinan thread- just asking OP if he considered that route. Thank you |

Funny thing is, I'm starting to consider it. (If I do, I doubt I'll go with downpipes.)

I don't plan to do anything (performance wise) until June. For now, I'm just doing cosmetics.

In MD there are some certain conditions where you can be emissions exempt. A bit shady but after talking to a few people locally there seems to be no problems. |

I never asked, what DP did you install? Lol, what exactly did you do to become emission exempt? Did you have to bribe someone?

I plan on installing VRSF I did notice that VA drivers are eligible for on road rapidpass screening which just measures tailpipe emissions driving by a sensor that measures tailpipe emissions. If this is the case you can easily cheat this. Last edited by EALm4; 01-30-2016 at 07:28 AM.. |

SS banned me for having mods on my car. So I would not call that mod friendly!!
