track wheels

Does anyone have some suggestions on some good 17" light wheel for the Z4M setup? Would 17" even work on the car? (clear the brakes)

thinking about something like the Kosei K1:

17's should clear the brakes if you have stock brakes on the car. A lot of people run 17s for winter.

As far as suggestions, I'd suggest that you look into buying a wheel made of 1 or 2 pieces with forged construction. Spun cast is probably the best casting method. You want the wheels to be both light and strong.

SNIP
thanks
Most 17 inch wheels won't clear the front calipers on the Z4MC.
If you plan on racing your Z4MC then you want the lightest, strongest wheels you can afford. If you're planning on driving school/autocross use then wheel weight will not be your limiting factor.
I found a set of beat up E46 M3 18 inch wheels Style 67 that have offsets close to the stock wheels and are a good fit. Mount some Toyo R-888 tires and you're ready the go.

Jim,
Thanks for the tip on the E46 M3 wheels. Could be a good option...I am really looking for something low cost that I can not feel bad about thrashing.

I'm looking at getting some rims that are 18x8.5 ET42 and running at 10mm spacer in the rear. Does this sound like it would fit the z4ms?
This would make it
Front: 18x8.5 et42
Rear 18x8.5 et32

Thanks for any input.

I actually had the same dilemma a few weeks ago. I ended up going with the Volk RE30 because they were forged and not cast like the Kosei. I purchased them at Tire Rack and I am not using spacers.

I needed DOT tires so I could drive to the track because there is no room in the M Coupe for an extra set of wheels. I went with Nitto NT01 235/40 R18 up front and 275/35 R18 in the rear.

I love the set up.
