Option for USB Map update appears to have disappeared

I have an LCI 3 series, which gets OTA map updates for the U.K. For Europe wide updates, there was the option to download the latest map onto a USB stick from the Connected Drive site. This option appears to have disappeared this weekend. Does anyone know if this is a temporary glitch?

How would you apply the update, I can't see an option in idrive to update the map on this 5 series with the latest nav system!

The map update page says that it's unavailable due to maintenance work.

Mine said that on Friday; yesterday, the option disappeared completely.

The UK updates are done automatically 'over the air' (although it will confirm with you that you wish to install it).

For the rest of Europe update, you have to download 'BMW Update Manager' from the website (though option currently missing) and save the data onto a USB stick. You can then use an option (in the 3 series LCI, at least) to update map from a USB stick, buried deep within the 'Connected Drive' options on the car.

By coincidence I've sent an email to them yesterday. That 'maintenance' page has been there for at least 2 weeks.

So does the idrive show different versions for UK & Europe maps? The 5 series just has the Europe map version (2015-2)

Ah ok, it appears the 5 series I have doesn't have the NBT Evo, despite being built in mid September!

Explains why it has done an over the air update yet then!

The car used to show that it had OTA updates for 3 years (and USB updates for 3 years); these services appear to have disappeared from my car connected drive section and the online (PC) connected drive section.

You wouldn't see much benefit in any updated map until the vehicle is at least two years old I wouldn't of thought unless they built a major motorway near where you live.

Seems the modern way of updating the maps is having teething troubles....

After some to-ing and fro-ing including screen shots, this is the latest this afternoon.

The USB Update has disappeared from my portal and the car...

You are quite right; but TomToms get updated for life now, every 3 months.

Yesterday, much to my surprise the car downloaded a map update for GB-IRL. Didn't think I had OTA updates.

Got an OTA map update for Britain and Ireland late in January. Just downloaded the 2016-1 map for Europe onto a USB stick and installed it successfully (option reappeared on website yesterday)!

You need a fairly large memory stick; the update was about 26GB.

Yes. I think the cutoff point is if your car has 'NBT Evo' (the latest Nav system).
