Windshield wiper motor question
Hi,
I suspected I had a bad windshield wiper motor in my 2009 328i because the wipers stopped working and there was a burning smell in the cabin before they stopped. The fuse is blown and although I could have just replaced the fuse, I feel certain that whatever was putting off the smell is what caused the fuse to blow and it would probably just blow again. I've already removed the wiper motor assembly and noticed the burned smell as soon as I removed the cabin filter. I have sourced another motor, but my question is; because a motor can be purchased separately, does this mean I can remove my motor from the assembly without damaging anything OR do I need to replace the assembly as a unit? The entire assembly is close to $400 whereas the motor is only about $80 at the local parts house. If I can remove the motor, how do I do it without damaging anything. The splined shaft looks like it is pressed into the arm. The car is not under any kind of warranty. Thnaks |

I think you have to buy the entire assembly (believe the p/n is 61617161711). If I were you, I'd just buy a used assembly from somewhere like Ebay or PartMyRide. Should cost between $50-100 shipped.
