Warning if looking at a 435i or 428i

If you're thinking about ordering a 435i or 428i you might want to wait a few weeks as the 440i & 430i start production in March!

I have a feeling the M135i will become the M140i next year hence the massive discounts currently available. Is it really worth going for the new B series engine in 3.0L form over the N55? I have read the N55 is the more tuneable engine hence being used in the M2, the B series modular unit being developed near it's maximum tune straight out of the box and designed for emissions / economy?
My 328i is equally as smooth etc to the B series 2.0T in our mini Cooper S so maybe a good time to but 435i and 428i if the discounts are good?

I'm sure you're right - M235i is definitely becoming M240i. If I was looking now, I'd want a good deal as regardless of whether engine is better, it will hit residuals. I love the 235i engine and I don't think you'd be short changed with it. Just an excuse to get a better bargain.

That's good to know! I'm leaning more towards an M next but will certainly have a good look at the 440i first.

LCi is usually after 3 years, so 4GC should be Summer 2017, 1 year before the G20 3 Series is unveiled.

It's a shame the 4 LCI won't be out before the tax changes in 2017. Might have been tempted (dependent on upgrades etc) to go for it but the additional VED implications means I'll prob hold on to my 435d a lot longer.

A 440i would be a nice motor...... Wonder if we'll see a 440d?

What does the newer engine sound like compared to the N55?

The sound of my 435 is what I love, and thankfully so, as my N54 engined E92 335 used to sound lovely and I was worried newer ones would be quieter and more in line with tree-hugging credentials.
