Hi guys, i have a 2012 F30 Sport, i have the smaller screen, wasnt really aware of all the package options etc included but i do have the xenon adaptive headlights which was all i was looking for really. A lovely car, a nice improvement from my 2009 m sport 3 series.

Anyway whay i really want to know is, is there anyway to control my music when i have spotify opened? I can open the app, play a song and it shows the artist etc in the current playback screen, but to change or view albums on it i need to use my phone?

You need the pronav with 6NR Apps to control Spotify via iDrive.

You can do forward and back a track on idrive or steering wheel controls but that's it.

I'm taking about full control, artwork and the ability to access the standard Spotify charts, top lists etc etc.

Ok thanks, i was wondering its just weird how my small screen shows what spotify is "now playing" though, I thought i could atleast click next track or display the album list.

Anyway, what is the name for what i have at the moment then and can i upgrade?

As I say you should be able to click next track.

Have the car got sat nav?

No i have no nav at all. I definately can't select next track or maybe im doing something wrong

No i dont have the album art either lol u have the bigger screen tho, this wee screen cant do any of that it seems

That's not my car, just a pic I found.

I've got the business nav, but i've coded enhanced bluetooth so I do get the album art. But i'm sure that even before i coded enhanced bluetooth i could skip track on spotify, when using usb of course.

Your screen can do it, it's just that you don't have enhanced bluetooth i think. If it had enhanced bluetooth it could do this:

But, due to the age of your car you can't just code enhanced bluetooth as it won't have the combox in the boot that is required for it, but you could check just in case.

Pull the boot floor out and see if it has one of these under:

No easy or cheap options tbh.

You can retrofit the combox, but then you'd might as well retrofit the full professional navigation system instead, but they are around £500 plus fitting.

Or you could just get a brodit holder like mine, then control spotify on the phone:

Thanks for the info, it's something i could do later, does anywhere in the uk do this type of work? Im in Northern Ireland. My car has only 24k on the clock and plan to have it a good few years!

MY wife's 120d had the same issue mate, unable to go forward or back on the tracks via the Y splitter cable setup.

I then purchased a bluetooth adaptor from Amazon to go on the end of the Y Splitter which at least meant I didn't have to always manually connect the phone, and worked great but with the same functionality, although oddly seemingly better audio.

Then I came across a thread by Teaston about coding the car for EBT (it had the combox) and the rest is history

Have had Brodit holders in my previous cars and they are pretty good. Where yours is positioned - is it pretty solid?
