Feathering 20s ??

HI, Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with feathering on the outer edge with 20s??

I have had the ACS springs on since August and had the alignment completed just after that. It's only the drivers side that is doing it.

But other than getting it re-aligned again what else could it be?

I have 405m's no problems here. On standard m sport suspension though.
Need some new tyres soon. Lots of money needed
Is the tyre catching any part of the wheel arch trim maybe?

Suggest taking it back to wherever was aligned initially and question it? Might have been set off by a speedy speed bump? The tyre is your evidence for a quick FOC check from them if possible?

Which tyres are you running ? Some of the asymmetrics and more track-focussed tyres such as Michelin Pilot Super Sports have less, or less deep, grooves in the tyre shoulder which can give the appearance of wear/feathering.

Just for information here is the report and it does indicate the wheel in question is slightly out but I was told that it would not cause any issues and would not be able to tell:

Seems odd : your car shows front right camber is out of tolerance both before and after, but the alignment centre didn't adjust it ??

Is the car driving straight, or do you sense it pulling (even a little), requires steering correction?

The before and after geometry is indicating something is wrong, haven't had a severe pothole hit have you?

Resulting cross camber is a possible cause of the tyre wear.

I certainly haven't but the car had done 11,000 wish mile when i bought it. So who knows.

I have got it booked in at BMW tomorrow to get it aligned again and i'll ask to speak with them rather than just leave it. It's obviously been like this since I got it... but that is impossible to prove..

Well into BMW.

Then they call me up and say it has ACS springs and they don't meet BMW standards as the car is riding lower than BMW specification..... They then tell me BMW will not supply the ACS parts anymore, etc, etc.

So I referred them to the ACS website where many BMW dealers are listed and suppliers and installers. Including one of their own dealerships.

Anyway 20 mins later I get a call back and they have spoken with Lorcan :-)

Thanks again for helping them out!!

Anyway here is the after report. But according to this the front drivers side was never out anyway and the only adjustment was on the rear....

Not sure what the spring test in red means????

Interesting the guy on the service desk seemed to indicate it was quiet common for run flats, and that keeping the pressures right was more important than regular tyres.

I should note that all my tyres were at 2.2 and should have been at 2.4f & 2.6r
and this was straight from the dealership......

Sounds daft but i'm wanting to change them now even though there is plenty of tread left.

I am a tyre pressure freak. I check the regularly. actually fair play to bmw they rarely need any air they hold air really well.

I think replacing them now would be completely pointless. unless your going to replace them for what would be an upgrade, such as non run flats / pss

if not I really wouldn't bother until they are done with
