Dog cage for F31
Looking for a small dog cage to have semi-permanently in the boot.
I currently have a Savic Residence size small which was too tall for my A6 to have the load area cover closed, so will defo be too big for the touring. Anyone got any recommendations? Last edited by FOAD; 11-22-2015 at 09:02 PM.. |

Just bought a Variocage for our Labrador, we bought Single, Large size, this fits My F11 and better half's F31. They do have smaller cages if you have a smaller dog.
It is a very nicely made item and leagues ahead of the chrome wire type, some of which I noticed were very nearly as expensive! http://www.safedog.co.uk/bmw.htm Ian |

Hi,
We have this cage and I must say I have been really pleased. It a good size and it is a useful storage place when the dog isn't in there! |

It's also worth saying that the thing does not rattle at all, rattling would drive me mad. Ian |

i have just got the oem F31 BMW dog guard for our dog (11 kg cocker spaniel) and the BMW boot liner and they are suffficient for our needs - It retains the ability to leave the guard in place and still drop the back seats for long loads without having to remove the guard - and it doesn't obstruct rear vision.
I couldn't deal with a big box in the boot that obscures the rear mirror or needs to have the rear seats down - that is a bit of an accident risk unless it fits withthe rear seats up or is fixed to the rear floor. |

I understand what you are saying Moonshine, but in a crash having a dog safe in a smaller space is much safer for the dog than the risk of it being thrown around the boot. Also there are a few pics on their website showing how the cage can add some serious strength to the boot in the event of a rear end crash.
I don't find the size an issue, it comes out easily and can be useful to put bits and bobs. |
