Anyone got a JB4 N55 stage 2 kit or Akrapovic Evolution line (ss)?
Hi
I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who has the JB4 N55 stage 2 kit installed on an N55 engine. I have a 335i and have been considering it. The main points I would like to know are, does it really improve fuel efficiency and is the power/torque upgrade noticeable? The 335i is an extremely quick car already but everyone likes more power I am considering combining this with the Evolution line (ss) exhaust from Akrapovic and would just like some feedback from anyone who has these installed (ideally in combination) or knows anything about them. Thanks |

We've installed the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust on a 435i in combination with an AC Schnitzer performance upgrade (360hp), and also a 335i AC Schnitzer exhaust with the same upgrade. Both customers were delighted with the performance increase and looks but the Akrapovic edges it on sound on this particular engine so if price is not an issue it's the one to go for. On an M car I'd say go for the Schnitzer. Both sound way better in the flesh than on videos.

It's a secondary ECU, i.e. a "remap in a box", and a sub wiring loom that connects to the sensors and CANBUS system.
http://shop.ac-schnitzer.co.uk/perfo...rom-1546-p.asp We tend not to use remaps as they can be overwritten at service updates, and giving a fixed performance increase via a piece of hardware like this means we can give a warranty on the engine and drivetrain. The full performance increase is only delivered when the engine is warm and only when using 98 octane fuel. There is an optional intercooler upgrade and high flow downpipe available if you want to go further. |

If you a staying stock then you will see great gains on maps 1 and 5. Adds about 4psi on regular fuel. My car had custom map6 fettled on a dyno and peaked 400/460 power/torque with 375+bhp from 4.5 - 7k rpm and 400+ lbft from 2 - 5k rpm. The car is quick everywhere in the rev range, docile when you want it to be. If 95 Ron fuel only available try using NF race octane booster. It's a hoot, I've seen 18.5psi with half bottle in a full tank of Tesco momentum 99. BP
