Dinan Stage 1 & exhaust

Has anyone done this here in TX? Would love to hear your impressions etc. I also looked at the M performance exhaust from BMW but the gains seems so negligible to be worth the $...thoughts?

I have the Dinan Stage 2 as well as the Magnaflow exhaust system and BMS Intake. I am in Austin.

The Dinan Stage 1 is worth it if you want some extra power and still want to keep a warranty on your engine. If the warranty is not important, then you could go with a variety of other ecu tune upgrades for about 1/3 of the price of the Dinan. Personally, I think that an exhaust system is a must, not for power gains but for the much improved sound and look from the rear.

Gains on any exhaust are negligible. BMW did such a great job on this car that most of the normal mods don't get you any power. Air filter, exhaust, intakes...none really get you anywhere, but add downpipes with a tune/piggyback and now you're talking.

I will be moving to Austin beginning of February next year. I have a Dinan Stage 2 tune with Dinan muffler. I also replaced the stock mid-pipes with a set of Supersprint strait pipes (secondary cat and resonator delete). I control the sound via CG Precision VSC-2 flap controllers.

Sounds mean as all get out with the valves open, and subtle yet sporty with the valves closed in OEM control. Highly recommended.

First half of video is with the valves closed in efficient mode...second half with valves wide open.

I have the Dinan Stage 1 tune and love it (review below). I'd like to get the Dinan exhaust with a Supersprint mid-pipe or AWE's non-res exhaust.

Your setup must sound amazing and is what gave me the desire to do the same (eventually).

I did the Dinan Stage 2. I already had the MPE. I know on Dinan's web site indicates that Stage 2 includes Dinan exhaust and the carbon fiber cold air intake. I didn't do the intake and obviously didn't have to mess with the exhaust. Definitely noticed the difference with Stage 2. And I agree with everyone that says MPE (or pick your aftermarket exhaust) is a must. Definitely worth the money just from the sound alone.

3er, man...I just saw this. Your write up is awesome. Thank you! Lamorinda, thx for the clip! Would love to hear it in person. Have you guys joined the TX ///MGruppe FB page? DDs07 et. al, what's the cost diff between Dinan's exhaust vs AWE etc? I'm presuming greatest diff besides cost is sound? Otherwise am I correct exhaust on stock F80/F82 doesn't change HP/Tq numbers greatly...?

3er, disregard! Just saw one of your older threads and judging by the pic you are already on the FB page! lol. Man, I've got questions for you...Will PM ya. Interested in the Bavsound as well as the dash mount passport etc

I've been thinking about purchasing a system and sending the M4 to Cobb in Austin for an AccessPort.

Anyone local in SATX done any tuning on theirs yet?
