BMW M2 spotted in CT. Compared to my 135is

There is a preproduction BMW M2 parked in the Fairway Market on Canal Street in Stamford CT if anyone is local and wants to see its parked underneath a light post.

First time seeing the color and I wasn't sure how I would like it in person but I have to say I'm definitely sold. It has fantastic shades of blue, teal, and green from every angle. It really suits the car perfectly. Aggressive and classy at the same time.

Nice catch! I have seen LBB many times and like the color. It does give off a slight green hue in certain lighting conditions from what I remember. It is a very unique looking color I believe.

That LBB M2 looks really nice at night!

Yeah that!

But I need to see some Mineral Grey M2 now, because I'm slowly wondering if i made the right decision with Grey...

Choosing the right color seems to be the hardest choice of them all.

Great find. Did you happen to wait out there for the "owner" of it and chat them up?

Wow. LBB looks amazing at night. I was already happy with my colour choice but this is now the cherry on the cake.

Love the shots with your 135...it makes the 1er look pretty pedestrian (and this is coming from a 135 lover...)

Excited to see this car in the flesh.

Yeah, I waited about 2 hours to see if anyone came back but no success. I just wanted to hear it fire up in person. I guess I'll have to wait until they become available unless I get lucky and see it again before then.

I agree - I'm losing sleep over which colour to choose. I was in the BSM camp (pretty much the only one), then decided to try either MG or AW but seem to have fallen in love with LBB

I was very lucky.. I was one of only a dozen people that was able to see all three colors on the assembly line before the car was available. (see video in my sig)
However.. even walking around the factory there were plenty of VO cars and AW cars. We did not see a BSM until the final reveal in a private room.

I have always loved black cars.. when I saw the rear of the 1M in black... I.. and the German gal that was part of the 12, ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE with the car from the rear. As I returned to the states and got on forums.. it was funny to then later see people make comments like

" black is hard to keep clean" and "black makes the lines of the car disappear " #WHATEVA! when it looks FUCKING BADASS... there is nothing left to say besides... no one else has to keep it clean.. I do!

If you tend towards black cars... don't be swayed by others. I'm actually rather happy to have a black car as it is much more rare than the other colors.

The original E30 M3 came in red, white , henna, diamond black and silver. Red and black cars are quite common.. but the two silver versions and henna are very rare to come by. Sure.. it's not gonna be common to see a bunch of M2s parked at an event.. but if you show up a local cars and coffee event or car show.. ... I can GA-RON-TEE that there will be plenty of AW and LBB M2s. I think it's already safe to assume that LBB will not even be rare among BMWs.. just as VO was not. Valencia Orange ended up on the 1M... Mini Coopers, the 228.. and the X1. So it's not even a rare color to see. LBB is rare now.. but we know it will be on a ton of cars already.. it's on the X5 and X6M.. the M2.. the X1 I believe.. and probably will appear on some other vehicles also.

Good call! my personal opinion is that Anyone going with BSM or MG on the M2 will own an even rarer bird..

I can't find a way to attach your original image... but I do find it interesting that the camera captured two different colors when looking at the front bumper and the fender in the first photo.

OP, great job comparing your car to the M2. The M2 looks wide. And also the pictures show a wide range in color variations at different angles, demonstrating the LBB's complexity.

Great pics!

Yeah I think at this point I may go with BSM. Maybe for different reasons though. I like this car for its function, not as much because of how it looks. It is not as pretty to look at as some other BMWs. It has rugged good looks. I don't need a "Hey! Look at me!" color for a car that isn't really trying to boast that it's the prettiest car on the block.

The fenders on the E82 1-series were inherently flared much more so than a standard 2-series....so even though the M2 is definitely wider the design itself is not very flared in any way....bulged yes...flared no! The rear flares on the 135is seem more prominent than those on even the M2...interestingly enough.

The E82 is a future classic! long live Bangle!

I'd say the fenders are kind of similar to the E30 M3.

You are right about the flare.

It looks like in the F generation of 2 and 4 series BMW has taken a further step forward and has incorporated aerodynamics to the wider tire fairing. As such the whole panel is different and wider in the M variants. Kind of like the body in a 348 Ferrari did when the 328 was replaced.

I really like this new M2. There is nothing not to like.

agree....aside from the F80 M3 which has more 1M-like flares....the other F-era BMWs have more aero bodywork. The F82 M4, for example has so much bodywork that it doesn't even look flared at all from some angl es....as compared to the E92 M3 which didn't have big flares, but small to medium sized ones. I always preferred the look of the E90 M3 like you have over the E92 M3's bodywork.

I personally prefer the sharper flares of the F80 M3, 1M, E90 and E92 M3, and E46 M3. I think they just look more menacing!!!

Interesting point. I wonder between the different style flare (or bulge if you will), which has the aerodynamics advantage?
