Over mileage on lease.
Through my carelessness I just noticed I am over by almost 2000km on a lease ending end of Dec. For some reason I thought I was allowed 56k but just checked contract and it's 52k. Penalty is .15/km. Is bmws financial liable to waive that or any other thoughts appreciated. I've ordered a 235ix which should be in mid Dec. Looks like the car is going to be parked in garage for almost two months but at least we have an extra vehicle I can drive. As I mentioned anyone's experience in this would be helpful. Thanks.

On paper, BMWFS is not going to waive it automatically as it is stated in the contract. For about $300+HST, you can negotiate with your dealer on this since you are a loyalty customer (you should be getting loyalty discount as well) such that dealer may do some goodwill for you. Dealer will pay this excess fees to BMWFS out of their own pocket.

Trade in your car to the dealer before the lease is over and get another car. You won't have to pay the excess mileage. My dealer told me the only time you have to pay for excess is when you are returning the car at the end of the lease.
I have been leasing bmws with 12k/yr lease terms and I have had zero issue trading cars in with excess mileage over the years. |
