Is the rear wing removable?

Any of you guys know if the rear wing on the M4 GTS will be detachable?

You would ruin the aero balance that has been engineered into the car with the front splitter & rear diffuser. Why get a GTS if your going to ruin it?

I guess we can say the same about everyone else that modifies their suspension on a stock M4 in regards to balance.

But ey guess what? If they own it they can do whatever they want to it. So yes, I would still like to know If the rear wing is detachable.

Everything is detachable with a big enough hammer.

True - however - most people mod where the end result is either increased performance or is purely cosmetic with no change in performance...

On the other hand (and where I believe the confusion with your question lies), removing the rear wing not only deletes what is part of the "essence" of an M GTS car, but would significantly diminish and unbalance its performance.

It would probably be cheaper to start with a "base" M4 and add aftermarket components to bring it closer to a stock M4 GTS (especially if there are problems with reattaching the rear wing, you'll take a huge hit in depreciation of that ends up happening)...

Come on what?

If I manage to get an allocation I plan on driving the car. So having the option to add and remove the wing is something that I would like to know.

I highly doubt you can order it with wing removed.... but once it's yours, you can do whatever you want with it? LOL

I wasn't planning on ordering the car without the wing.

It's hilarious how some people get over a simple question. Reminds me of a post in the i8 section of a guy that decided to put wheels on It and everyone freaked out.

At the end of the day if it's yours you can do whatever you want with it.

Wow I'm impressed at how many of you badasses drive at an average of 100+mph on a daily basis. I mean is it that or are we pretending this wing actually produces any significant sort of downforce at highway cruising speeds. : no seriously some of you just crack me up. The OP is just asking if the wing is possibly detachable, as an option or an alternative for whenever he decides he doesn't need the wing, some of you are acting as if he's trying to replace it with an anvil or glue it on his hood. I guess the trend on the internet is to be up in arms when someone inquires about an "unusual" mod.

I was wondering about that, also.
My guess is that it would have to be detachable, otherwise, if it somehow gets damaged and needs to be replaced, then you would have to replace the whole trunk lid assembly as well as the wing. Probably would require some special tool.

As a former fighter pilot, I am personally glad that birds are not the only thing with wings

That car has bigger issues than that.

Well as Twitch pointed out, wings really help at 130 MPH, otherwise you just don't have enough downforce. Happily I don't drive that fast and don't need them. Gravity is all the downforce I require.

Anybody who buys a GTS and does not track this vehicle is totally missing the point of this car.

You know nothing about how aero works on a race car.
