Fitting M Performance vinyl side strips
Has anyone fitted the BMW OEM M Performance vinyl side strips themselves?
Would like to try and do myself, but worried about whether it really needs some skill and a lot of patience to avoid bubbles etc. My practical abilities are not great. Want to avoid paying someone to do it at all costs as only small mod and decided to buy them as got at a decent discount. Should I try myself? Any tips to get the best result? Thanks in advance |

Good question this, I've thought the same, potential to go very wrong whereas something you screw on, has guide holes etc and can be done, undone etc.
I bet its one of those things a little expertise from the BMW techs makes it look easy and they a template to lay them on with. Maybe the stickers come with a great gude? They're not everyones tasts bit I like the way they make the cars stance lower with their visual trick and protect the lower area there too. Win Win! Good luck with the fit!

I love mine and have done a little vinyl wrapping in the past but Would'nt attempt these. Even the guy who did mine at the bmw bodyshop said they're very tricky to fit

My local vinyl signs fitter quoted me £30, which is nothing to get them done right! I'm gonna wait till next spring now, and get skirt extensions colour coded then fit them too. It's a long sticker, and a couple of mill out at one end will be alot at the other+ the chance of bubbles. £30........that's the way I'll be going Tbh.

Don't do it. Don't trust a garage, they will cock it up. Riaz called a specialist fella in to fit mine. I.e. someone who works with this material all the time |

I tried to fit mine myself, they ended up getting fucked into the garage in a ball followed by a few further profanities.
I can testify that they are tricky to fit, i put a slight crease on one side and it wouldn't come out totally, could still see it. |

Ok the trick is you need to prepare first IE use some alcaohol wipes to clean your sills, then you need a small amount of washing up liquid in some sort of spray bottle/mister. Spray along sills before you stick them on,when the surface/sill is wet lay your decal along sill, get yourself a material coverd credit card don't push the air/moisture in straight lines always push the air and moisture out to the sides, finsh off by wiping with a clean cloth...
