Who has the M performance brake and gas pedal steel covers?

do they require drilling or are they slip on? I want them but prefer to not have to drill for fear of screwing something up.

The OEM BMW ones have to be drilled, you can get ebay slip on replicas for a fraction of the cost. Here is a picture of my replica pedals, cost me $25 AUD.

Cost of the petals ($160) plus $80 for dealer install was well worth it for me. I have the skills to do it myself, but I feared a serious mistake. Pedals are not something you want to make a mistake on.

Just my two cents.

The pedal quality is amazing.

The pedal quality is amazing.

Its incredibly easy to do and can be done in 20 minutes and I even had to do my clutch pedal as well.

Whoops. It was $60 for the labor, for a total of $220 dollars for the pedals. Not exactly a bargain by any means. It was $260 for the port install and $220 for the dealer install.

I definitely realize I could have spend $120 to purchase the pedals and do it myself, however, I was able to incorporate the $220 into my financing and they forgot to include the $950 driver's assistance package in the price, so it wasn't breaking the bank to do the pedal install.

Yep Sun Motors has the best price by far on basically any M Performance parts

Have installed two sets in the last 4 months. Totally doable but it can be tricky. The hardened steel brake pedal is hard to drill through and you must file down the burrs on the backside or the lock nuts will not seat onto the thread very easily. It seems intimidating, but if you are methodical, it is not very difficult.

With that said, $80 for dealer install is a very good bargain, considering how it can become a PIA, but just not as satisfying for a job well done by yourself.

I have three pedals. Two out of three are plastic. Drilling is easy. The hard part is blindly starting the nuts on the bolts behind the pedals

Super easy install, but take everyone's word for it when they say the back of the pedal will have some blowout that you need to file down. Do not stick your finger back there to check like I did. Lots of blood and some super glue later the finger was fine, but not worth the hassle.

Found it to be much easier if you drop the bolt into a socket first, it's a weird and awkward angle

I bought the MP pedal covers from Brian at Sun Motors and installed them myself. Took maybe an hour at most, and I am incredibly OCD about such things. I used a 19.2 volt cordless drill. The key was to use a good sharp small pilot bit first, and then enlarge the holes with the proper bit. No issues drilling. I used a small flat file to take the burrs down a little, and then tightened the nuts down over what was left of the burrs.

If you have even a minimal amount of mechanical ability, and preferably a garage, this is DIY job IMO. OTOH, if you can get a shop to do the job for $20 like another poster here, and you trust them, you might as well go that way.

I bought the slip on replicas. If you don't want to get them on ebay, Amazon has them for 23.77 and Prime eligible. Pretty happy with them. Will see how well they hold up but the initial quality appears to be pretty good.
