1200 mile service

Newbie question: is it ok to get the 1200 mile break-in service around 1300 or 1400 miles? And curious what's the biggest odometer reading someone had for their break-in service?

thanks in advance!

100-200 miles over will probably be fine but, at least as far as my wife's MINI was concerned, the oil was very well cooked at 1500 miles and had quite a pile of metal shavings sitting on the magnetic drain plug we installed at 200 miles.

I would not personally push break-in service very far out at all, and will be taking my car in right around 1200 miles, if not a little early. The oil they put in the M3s may be higher quality than what they put in bog standard MINIs, but some metal shavings will still be there regardless of the quality of the oil.

My SA said 1-200 Miles over would be fine but wouldn't recommend going much higher.

Schedule two weeks prior and call ahead to confirm your service department has the kit for the 1200 mile service. Then let her rip!

Ok so mine was in Yesterday at 1700 miles for the 1200 mile run in service and the guys at the garage said there was no problem with the excess mileage and that 1200 is grossly misquoted!!!

£247 for the service and no problems with Warranty etc being over the recommended mileage. FYI unfortunately I had to drive across Europe when it needed a service hence the over mileage - not ignorance

So probably a dumb question but I will ask away anyway. My 1200 miles service was completed at 904 miles. Can I let it rip or still take it easy for another 300 miles?

Isn't that included in the 4-years of free maintenance or is that a US-only thing?

Just so you guys know, the car will be disqualified for CPO if it is done after 1,500 miles.

I believe that 6MT fluid is required to be changed; however, dealers were stating otherwise. I remember a thread a long time ago - can anyone re-send or refresh my memory?

Was around 90 minutes when I took the car in this morning, but then it wasn't that busy at my local dealer. Two hours is probably more likely.

Just had my 1200 mile service done on Friday.

Took around 90 min and they only change the engine oil and diff fluid. The 6MT is not required and if you want it done, you'll have to pay out of pocket for it.
