F80 LCI tailllight retrofit
Now that MY2016 cars have been delivered to customers, I'm sure the LCI taillights are available through the parts department. Anyone successfully install them? Do we need new harnesses and coding? Any info would be appreciated.

From what i can tell with the LCI, you no longer have the plastic amber portion in the rear tail light like you did pre LCI. It really cleans it up and makes it look like the all-red US spec unless the blinker is actually on.

Looks like it would be a total waste of money to "upgrade"...
And, no, they would not be plug and play conversion, they would need extra HW and possible software update to get rid of the warning lights. |

I know on the GTI you could swap the standard bulb tail lights for factory (or factory rep) LEDs with just a plug and play harness adapter and then you coded out the bulb error. Just went in and told the car it was equipped with LED tail lights from the factory. That coding is likely not an option in this case.
So unless someone is making a harness adapter, it's unlikely to accomplish this without replacing the entire rear light harness, which I know won't be cheap and neither will the lights themselves. Probably be $1500-$2000 easy to do it and a good amount of dissassembly of the rear trim. I do like amber turn signals though, much more eye catching.

Installed mine tonight using Alex @ Alpine's custom harness & lights from IND. Look and work great!
