M2 German price leaked (€54,000) !?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
According to the german car magazine AUTOBILD the starting price of the new M2 will be ~ € 54.000,-

Quote:
German media is reporting the highly anticipated BMW M2 Coupe will carry a starting price of around €54,000.

It seems we were right assuming the M2 will cost more than €50,000 taking into account the rear-wheel drive manual M235i Coupe begins at €44,900 in Germany. Auto Bild cites unspecified sources close to Bavaria who disclosed a €54,000 starting price for the range-topping 2-Series, but we don't know whether this is for the six-speed manual version or the seven-speed DCT model.

If the rumored price tag refers to the manual M2, it means that if there will be a DCT-equipped version it will cost at least €56,000 which would still be a lot cheaper than the bigger M4 Coupe priced at €72,500 (DCT version is €76,400) at home in Germany.

Pricing aside, we remind you the M2 is set to enter production in November which means an official reveal will occur very soon. It will be motivated by a turbo-six 3.0-liter engine with an estimated 370 PS (272 kW) and 465 Nm (500 Nm with overboost). The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task should be completed in less than four and a half seconds while top speed will likely be electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) or 170 mph (274 km/h) with the optional M Driver's Package.

If that is true we could see a U.S. MSRP right at or right under the $50k mark, which would be an exceptional deal.

Comparison
1M German MSRP - 51,500
1M US MSRP - 47,010

I saw that, too.
In a brief search, that terminology, used on the M6 and other M cars, seems to be a tune which lifts the top speed limiter. And can be done by the dealer. I was hoping hardware power boost. Oh, well.

A spec'd m235i is 51-55k. i do not see the m2 coming in below 55k.

This looks to be a correct price. In the M3/M4 you get a whole lot of car more than in the M2.

For non-US cars.

A stripped m235i with diff is $51k. So, I can't imagine a base of less than $50k for the M2, although it would be awesome!

Indeed M-Drivers Package includes the increase of the speed limiter to around 280 kph by software parameters and also includes a BMW M drivers training.

Yeah buts its not a direct conversion when it comes to setting the US sale price.

The M3 starts at about 72k euro in Germany and is $62k over here.

That's not the way cars are priced in the US, because of the competition and market factors. The M4 costs around 64.000 USD in the US, and around 72.000 EUR in Germany.

Technically you can "fully spec" a lot of cars to their next level trim "base" price...

above 55k is really pushing it when there is only limited options on the M2

I believe the Euro Spec model topped out at 59,995 - If I recall correctly.. one was parked in the M studio with a price card at that amount.

1M US MSRP began at 47K and topped out at 54,495 or so with all options

this is excellent rumor if it's correct.. this car is going to be hard to get

I spec'd an M235i with what I thought would be standard on the M2: 6 speed, premium pack., tech pack. Price came out right at $49k. I'm going to take a wild guess at the M2 price and say $53k.

There is absolutely zero chance this car has an MSRP under $50k

I tend to believe the same. However, BMW NA may start pricing $48,995 knowing most people will load them with every option on the menu.

And the add in the inevitable M Performance parts people will purchase for it, and it's another license for BMW to print money.
