Catless Downpipes UK Cars

Just wondering how many people are running Catless downpioes in the UK. I bought a set of Shiftek Pipes after seeing great reviews and fitting quality being spot on then put an order in for a new car. Since iv tried selling the pipes and only had interest from the US. Wondering why they are so hard to shift in the UK.

Id no one running them or willing to?

I guess people's fears are come warranty work or MOT time. The ball ache of swapping them over maybe?

Ill try eBay. Just not something i would normally buy from eBay so narrows my market. That said i may even get on to Shiftek and see if they will take them back at a lesser price than i payed. Seems silly to let them gather dust in a box.

I think iv decided to just fit them. The car will be going in a few months but anyone interested wants them for the cost of a Starbucks Frappé. May aswell give them a romp before it goes unless someone buys them before next weekend.

Hi Jordon,
What exactly is involved to fit these and what is the likely cost of fitting by the stealer? Also are we certain that once fitted the car will definitely fail an MOT? Are the down pipes likely to generate any error codes with the car?

Cheers,
Denso

Firstly fitting is straight forward. Any competent spanner jocky could do the work.

i wouldn't be using a dealer to fit personally for cost reasons as it can be done elsewhere for allot cheaper.

After fitting i would assume it would fail. But strangley my N54 335i with decat downpipes passed the sniff test fine.

Lastly it will bring up a CEL on the dash. Essentially a harmless one but there are ways of turning it off. Ie JB4 tune.

Hope that helps.

Update:

I am sending the pipes back to shiftek for a refund as i cant see the point in fitting these for such a short period of time.

After postage back to the US i will get back £330.

So if anyone wants them before they go let me know.

£330 ono takes them.

Mate, if I had an f80 I'd take your hand off. Bargain.

Same here, had a 335i with decats. Transformed the car.

Still passed MOT fine too... and the f80 pipes are a whole lot easier to fit than the N54.

I appreciate that. Seems they just aren't a wanted thing over here in the UK. If i wasn't swapping cars soon i would happily fit them but just cant justify doing it to then remove them and sell again and lose even more being used.

I do however have the urge to just see what its like........

In regards to fitting iv jad a look on a ramp and the are straight forward. Not allot has to be moved and the turbo's sit low so band clamps etc look a sinch.

I think the f80 is a bit too new to have many owners wanting to do that kind of mod, warranty scares and all that.

Only the brave at this stage....

Give it a year or so and it will be much more common.

Now the 1st MOT is being extended to 4 years it will mean more time before emissions testing worries too in future. Not sure if 4 year rule applies to current cars though.

Hello there,

I am wondering why some companies use on the cat pipes flexi bands and some others do not use flexi bands the factory ones have flexi bands.

I want to buy them so I can test them here in Cyprus for my F80 but am not sure what to buy with flexi or without flexi?
Can any one help?

Lambros
