428i in M-sport?

wasup peeps. i ordered my 428i gc and really wanted the body kit of the m-sport but alas, the configurator didnt have it as an option. i asked my sales guy and he said it wasnt possible. is this a canadian thing? our neighbors down south seem to be able to get it with their 428 without having to upgrade to the 435.

Yeah... unfortunately, no M Sport is available for 428i at all in Canada but you can have it an option anywhere else in the world from what I've seen. It comes standard for 435i though... BMW and their lame restrictions, just like no manual transmission for 435i GC.

Correct, no M Sport for 328/428's (except the wagon). In Europe, they can even option M Sport on x18's and x20's lol

i feel ya. i would have had no problem going for the 435, better engine and body kit but as you said, no mt. my wish list was manual, "luxury brand", sporty and at least a 4 seater. at the end of the day the only choice i had was the 428i gc (xdrive is not mt). didnt really like 3 and the current a4 is getting old.

haha, havent seen any 320s with m sport just yet. that would be counterintuitive i suppose. still would be nice to have the choice though.

I was in the same boat as you when picking cars; needed to have that manual transmission. 428i GC was my pick; the Sport Line looks just as good IMO, especially with the LED headlights. I was all over M Sport when I was initially shopping for cars but the Sport Line grew on me quick and I may just prefer it over M Sport... only problem I find is there aren't many lip options for it lol

I had this dilemma when I purchased in 2012 and the restriction still remains unfortunately.
I wanted a 328i w/msport and EBII but no dice.
Second choice was 328i w/luxury so I could get the lovely saddle brown leather. Very happy with the car and decided to retrofit the msport bumpers this year.

Now if BMW Canada were smart they'd just offer the 328/428 in M-Sport AND saddle brown leather.

^bmw canada is smart, they do this to force the picky buyers to move up to 435, in this way, they make more $.

@drifterx, looking at everyone elses cars here, its a welcomed change not to see msport once in a while. actually without knowing of the msport i really liked the sport line the first time i saw it in the showroom.

@photoman, theres method to bmws madness. its all about upsell, it would have worked on me if i didnt care so much about mt. still, i did end up going for the individual line (i.e. the luxury for the 4 i guess) because i wanted the saddle brown, msport steering wheel and the 626 wheels. cant wait to see the combination with the moonstone. at the end of the day, bmw gets what it wants and thats more of our $.

I think after LCI they will introduce it because the 228i you can order in Msport in canada. Friend already did so makes sense for the rest of the 3/4 lineup in the 28i to get it too.

Bobblehead/Minkia, I fully understand WHY BMW Canada does it. But I still think it's a stupid strategy; by offering Msport as an option for $1500-2000 on 320/328/428 which they sell way more of anyway they could more effectively up sell the customer.

They sell 15K 3/4ers a year in Canada (about the same as just the state of Florida). Would be interesting to note how many are actually 335s.

I think the problem is that most 320/328/428 buyers just wouldn't care enough to get the M Sport. The take rate would be too low to justify offering it.

Hell, even on the 335, I have probably seen more non M Sport ones than M Sport.

no doubt they crunch the numbers on these things and figure out the way to maximize their revenue. cant help but feel jealous though when you see the 'mericans and 'ropeans without much restrictions at all. i read on an australian review sunroof was an option on the gc down under. haha.

on another topic, you guys get offered the ed? there was no mention of this and didnt even really know about it until i came to these forums. something i regret missing out on and im kinda pissed this was never presneted to me. seems like a great experience.

It was never offered to me either and neither was "BMW Individual" mentioned to me. I think it's not something dealers want to work with in Canada because from my experience, all they care about is making money and you're just another sale for them. In no way was my (6 month) purchase process enjoyable until I actually got the car in my hands. I was extremely happy when I didn't have to deal with my sales agent anymore... well until I found out a couple weeks ago that he entered my name wrong in the BMW system. My road side assistance card came in and had my name in the completely wrong order. Lets see if he actually corrected it when the new card comes in...

I wish I could have just ordered my car through BMW Germany directly but of course, that's not an option

I'm not sure if I can think of a less appropriate word for BMW Canada than smart... They're so incompetent that it takes them six months to a year to update their website to show correct model years.

The absolute last thing you should do is create arbitrary rules to force customers to spend more. It may result in a few upsales, but ultimately it just makes customers annoyed and creates a poor relationship with the brand.

sorry to hear that dude. mine was the opposite, i fockin milked the car buying experience. i test drove audis, mbs and lexus. was even close to visiting a porsche dealership went into the bmw dealership expecting douchiness and wasnt dissapointed, the sales manager was kinda douchy but i didnt let that affect the experience. at the end of the day, i have the purchasing power. do ed next time, it appears its a guaranteed enjoyable experience. imma gonna write to audi to have this available for canada, if not, i may have to go ed 5 series in a few years.

328 M sport

I have read that 328 M sport is not available in Canada. It looks like it is now available. I have one on order. 2015 328i xdrive M sport estoril blue.

I have been told it was the first to arrive in QC (maybe Canada as well). It was built in Rosslyn SA in April. Should be arriving at the end of the month.

+1,000,000 about the hopelessly outdated website for sure.
