M4 ownership & costs.

Hi guys,

I am looking into buying a M4 within the next few months and wondered if you could give me a rough guide on costs for services and parts (if needed) etc. As much feedback as possible would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

£65 petrol tank and lasts me about 150-230 miles
Run in service was £240
Assuming other service will be about £500-£700

after 5k miles rear tyres need replacing very soon and around £270 each

modding is my biggest cost

Service inclusive a no brainer unless you intend to do very low miles, £1000

Agreed modding is the biggest cost unless you want to keep it absolutely stock. I would say if you intend to do more than 8000 miles a year get the service pack and also the alloy tyre insurance may be worth considering.

Thanks for replying, doesn't seem too bad if I'm honest. Its aways going to be more than what I pay now as I have a Fiesta. I would say my mileage is currently about 4-5k per year. I have seen on the net that modding for BMW's is expensive.

Cheers.

As you are just across the water from me, check out this link for what is possibly the most modded M4 currently in Scotland.

So far I am pleasantly surprised.

£1000 service pack

Fuel in the middle of a price dip and 27 mpg
Tyres, 8000 miles and still got em

YOLO!

Thanks for the reply, costs don't seem to bad, I'm quite surprised. Insurance for me will be around the £1,500 mark. But my view on getting an M4 is 'YOLO'. Will look into a test drive at some point. Cant buy till October though! :-(

Costs and MPG

I have the service pack; it currently costs £1050 and is likely to prove to be good value over time.

I regularly have to do long motorway journeys and the M4 is great to cruise in. B*stard average speed cameras at 50mph on the M1 and M6 slow me down, but help fuel consumption. I regularly get 35-37mpg over the 160 mile journey. Well, I achieve that for the first 150 miles of it before I enjoy the reward of country roads for the last 10!

I had the car out thrashing round last weekend and using launch control for the first time. Still got 16mpg giving it the beans solidy for an hour.

Service pack is a must

Save quite a bit of ££££££ over the 5 year service plan if you did keep her,

£1000 service plan or £2500 Approx for services depending on millage per year,

Ford to BMW big jump !!!!!! But OMG What fun you will have with a M4 offftttt

Thanks for replying, much appreciated

Fuel consumption won't bother me 'smiles per gallon' ;-)

Yes Ford to BMW is a huge jump, especially the M4, i was originally interested in the A45 but after a test drive at the weekend i was disappointed, was not all it was made up to be, maybe i was expecting too much, i dunno. It just didn't feel that fast! Also took the M235i out for a test drive at the weekend and it was awesome, which made me think how good the M4 is!

Stunning example

Fancy sharing the wheel offsets? Any clearance issues?
